I'm a researcher, writer and web developer.
I'm currently interested in how social networking technologies can help build effective women's networks and in FLOSS as a set of philosophies, technologies and social practices. I'm involved in research, FLOSS advocacy and training with Eclectic Tech Carnival and Technology and Social Action.
I also provide professional web production and content management for media, infrastructure and non-governmental organisations as well as programming, articles, features and reviews for print, including contributions to Diva, Feminist Review and the Lux Cinema.
I'm a lecturer and researcher working at the University of East London
where I'm Programme Leader of the Cultural Studies degree. You can find out more about the course here. I teach on a range of modules in Cultural Studies and related fields, including Cultural Politics, Sexual Cultures and Lesbian and Gay Cultures, and I supervise research students at Masters and Doctorate levels.
My areas of research are popular culture, gender politics and lesbian and gay studies. My most recent work has been on the porn industry, and attempts to integrate gender-based analysis with materialist approaches to technology and hypercapital.
